ELECTIVE PROGRAM
100% FREE CHOICE

Campers entering 5th grade and higher participate in the Elective Program. It's 100% free-choice, and provides an opportunity for campers to explore their individual interests, and encourages them to pursue those interests they find most challenging.

    ACTIVITY OFFERINGS

All activities are coed, unless they involve physical contact. There are typically 6 activity periods each day. Each period is an hour-long, including ten minutes for travel time between activity sites. If you enjoy non-competitive sports, there are activities like pottery, ceramics, flying trapeze, circus arts, drama, petting zoo, hiking, fishing, dance, lake activities, and camp newspaper, just to name a few. If you prefer competitive sports, Cayuga has plenty! If you enjoy outdoor adventure or extreme sports, you can sign-up for bungee trampoline jumping, rock climbing, paintball, skateboarding, zip line, mountain biking, ATVs, survival skills, and many more. Whichever activities you choose, your day is guaranteed to be action-packed!

    SIGN-UP PROCEDURE

Each morning after breakfast, you report to the elective sign-up room where you select the activities you want that day. You’ll sign-up at the same time as other campers in your age group, so you can meet-up with your friends and plan your activity schedules together. You choose from over 60 activities each day! Our program staff will provide guidance during the sign-up period and assist campers with their activity selections.

When you enter the sign-up room, you’re given an activity card where you’ll write-down your selected activities for each period. Your activity card includes the list of your activities for the day. If you lose your card, don’t worry - the elective program staff have copies. After you select an activity, your name is added to the activity roster, which is used to take attendance. Parents who prefer to control their child’s activity selections are asked to complete the Activity Control Form, which is located on their dashboard.

      SUPERVISION

Instructors are stationed at each activity site and are responsible for supervising the campers. The instructor is given an activity roster for each period, and uses it to take attendance. The program staff collect these rosters to ensure each camper is accounted for, and keep all roster copies for each period every day. They are available throughout the day to lend a helping-hand when campers have activity changes and questions about their schedule.
