LAKE
FACILITIES
Cayuga’s lake is private and reserved exclusively for our campers and
staff. It’s a natural stream-fed lake that’s just the right size (13 acres).
The lake is large enough to accommodate a wide spectrum of watercraft
activities, but also small enough for our lifeguards to provide proper
supervision. The lakefront area features 250 feet of beach, sand
volleyball court, boat house for storage of equipment, a large swimming area (110
ft wide), separate fishing dock, and floating raft with a water slide. In
addition, our Lakefront Program includes a
“Rolling Log”, a big 25 ft diameter “Water Trampoline”
with slide, a floating "Blanket", and a 14 ft high floating "Iceberg"!
WATERCRAFT INSTRUCTION
Lessons are available daily in all watercraft. Instruction includes boarding
& debarking, trimming, movement in the craft, use of life jackets, and
self-rescue procedures for capsizing. Campers are oriented to the lake rules
prior to using watercraft. Approval for solo operation of a watercraft is
determined by the camper’s swimming level ability and the ability to safely
operate the watercraft. Regardless of swimming ability, everyone wears a
certified life jacket when swimming or using watercraft.
LAKE ACTIVITIES
Cayuga’s Lake Program offers the following activities on a daily basis:
canoeing, sailing, windsurfing, row boating, paddle boating, kayaking,
tubing, recreational swimming, and fishing. There are over 50 watercrafts
for our campers to choose from! In addition, several Special Events take place at the lake,
including the Boating Regatta, IronMan Competition, and the Big Beach Bash.
Cayuga also offers Canoe Trips on the scenic Delaware River for qualified
campers!
LAKE STAFF & SAFETY
The Watercraft Instructors and Lifeguards are supervised by Cayuga’s Lake
Director, who holds Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification from the ARC
and has experience managing staff, maintaining lake facilities, and
instructing watercraft skills to children. Cayuga’s Lake Staff is
comprised of 8 to 10 watercraft instructors and lifeguards. All staff hold
ARC certifications (or equivalent) in WSI, lifeguarding, and/or watercraft.
There is always a staff member present at the lake who holds current
certification in first-aid and CPR. In addition, all Lake Staff are trained,
evaluated, and qualified by our Lake Director in emergency and
rescue procedures. Camp Cayuga’s Lake Activities Program meets the standards and
follows the guidelines set forth by the American Red Cross (ARC), as well as
the American Camping Association (ACA).
